To roller derby...and beyond!

This is my digital documentation of my journey as I navigate roller derby with mental illness and all the ups and downs that come along for the ride.

As far as reblogs, there will be: some inspiring stuff, and some hilarious stuff, but mostly derby stuff.
My Tumblrverse

Because home life has gotten more hectic with my grandfather getting sicker, I’ve had to stop going to regular practices because he’s getting to the point where he’s just unpredictable and someone needs to be home 24-7. And since I don’t work, guess where that leaves me?

I miss practice terribly…hopefully I can start Tumblring again on non-practice derby stuff.

Also I still have to do a gear video.

But I haven’t forgotten about you guys!! Nowadays I spend blog time on my personal Tumblr while I’m stuck in the house, so feel free to check it out or follow me there as well.

Happy skating, peoples!!

:( Either that or I’m not workin’ em right. The Velcro won’t go around…

Did my RDW DVD tonight.

NAILED IT!

Oooh…

That’s not bad for a phone.

Since I have a new phone with way awesomer recording capabilities, I’m considering restarting my derby YouTube channel up again…

So today, endurance day, is the day I decided would be a good day to break in the skates I won at Rollercon (I know, I know…) Of course, I’m still wobbly on my skates and new skates don’t help. At all.

One of the girls noted my wheels were “probably the reason I felt like I was going to eat shit” (her words) because, silly me, I assumed since we were outside, I’d use my outside wheels and didn’t take into account the actual skating surface. Duh. So I ended up switching out my wheels again back to the Tile Biters, and the girl (I later learned her name was Nohemy…don’t know her derby name) had me put then on looser than I was used to. I was afraid they’d come off because, well, I am afraid like that. Lo and behold, the Tile Biters were ah-may-zing!

Then I worked with Nohemy on basic skating, slowing down to a stop, and one knee falls. Also, getting up from one knee falls, which proved to be the challenging part. But I saw major improvements just from when I started this morning to when I finished! :)

I have no doubts about my ability to be able to do this…as long as my confidence is high and I’m not looking at the ground. Yay!

Oh, and I got homework, both from Brown Mamba (and Nohemy, and Hotcakes, and…) and myself. The homework from the team is to wear my skates as much as possible. My homework for myself? CLIP MY TOENAILS!!

That was probably more than you needed to know, but hey… :)

Happy skating everyone!

Power came back on two hours ago…I was too busy blowing out my candle and enjoying electricity again to update y’all.
